Nice sized bookstore located off the canal line. Although I drove to the area and walked around, I know that's a long ride from the Qtr, but worth it. Hoping on and off to sight see while on St Charles helps, when it's not too hot out. This was a recommended store by an English Prof I met elsewhere in the city. It was a Saturday afternoon and they were fairly busy. I still saw staff walking around helping and sprucing. I went a little crazy this time, but they had a good selection of new and used books. I was walking off the UM game @Cooters and a couple tasters @Oak St brewery. They even had comp snacks and drinks and you can spin the wheel for other goodies. 4 instead of 5 stars cause I'm a dog person(jk)

A cute little bookstore with at least a little bit of something from every genera, a cool little novelties section, and a sweet cat. There are a few benches to sit on while you consider your options, and for the most part there's enough room to easily maneuver around others. Prices are also ok for used books. Parking is scarce, and that's really the only negative about this place.

This is my absolute FAVORITE bookstore to come to in New Orleans. They have used books, a cat, and a fun buyer card where you can use money you spend towards a free book! The service is great. One of the workers: Jodi, introduced me to my new favorite author Emily Henry by recommending me a few of her books! The environment and selection is great!!❤️

A top-tier bookstore, worth a visit any time. It's a lovely, curated women-owned bookstore in a cozy neighborhood with an immensely knowledgeable staff who offer superb recommendations. Features a bookstore kitty, affectionately known as Kitty Meow, who is a New Orleans icon of course. It hosts a robust event calendar with several excellent book clubs, especially Happily Ever After (a romance book club). Also, it has a comprehensive online store with easy ordering. I have been a patron for nearly ten years, and it’s almost impossible to walk away empty-handed. Go, seriously!

Blue Cypress Books is lovely. All of the booksellers are passionate and knowledgeable about the stock and I always feel welcome. There is an upstairs area with even MORE books. I started going there for the books of course but really I could spend hours just looking at the little aspects of the space, literally even the floor is interesting, go look at it. My favorite part of BCB is how I can see parts of all the booksellers in all the pieces that make up the shop. You really have to hand it to Elizabeth (shop owner/bookseller), she’s attracted the most wonderful staff to entrust her shop to. Every single one of them do such a fantastic job of making BCB feel local, cozy, and cared for. As a business owner I know that having the best employees is a testament to doing the right thing as an owner. If you follow the Instagram you can really dig into which bookseller has your similar reading vibe and then follow their recs to get you the EXACT books you never would’ve ended up with on your own. If you don’t do social, there’s a little spinny shelf with their recs so you can check there first to see who’s in your lane too. Jodi is my like mind. There’s nothing she can tell me to read that I would question. Really you should follow the Instagram though because it’s a work of art. There is so much information about featured books but also lots of fun activities and events happening all the time! SUPPORT INDIE BOOKSTORES AND SHOP AT BLUE CYPRESS! The only downside is that you’ll never want to shop anywhere else! But it’s worth that risk! Oh, also there’s a cat. Sometimes she’s in the mood for attention and/or pets. Sometimes she’s not. But surely you already knew that, since she’s a cat.

Blue Cypress is a woman-owned, locally-owned bookstore on Oak St near the levee. While they are most known for their used books selection they also have a great new selection. They often highlight local authors and host several different book clubs on site. Don't forget to meet Kitty when you go!

Wonderful new and used book shop with two floors, a great selection, and a cat! Very large section of local books and works by artists in NOLA. The staff was friendly and the prices were very reasonable. I picked up some Hemingway today, but saw four or five other books that I’ll need to purchase next time I come. This is what bookstores should be (not big box stores) and Blue Cypress fits perfectly in a beautifully eclectic neighborhood.
